1. Anthropic Launches Claude Duet: The Three-Way AI Agent Battle Officially Begins

AnthropicClaude DuetAI Agent

On October 21, Anthropic officially launched the Claude Duet research preview, positioned as a "proactive AI agent" and joining the "always-on AI assistant" battle led by Meta's Muse and OpenAI's Dots.

Claude Duet is built on Claude Opus 5.5, with its own virtual machine and browser, and can keep running after the user's device is turned off. Users can assign tasks by text or voice, such as scheduling meetings, organizing email, tracking invoices and building dashboards. The product connects to more than 6,000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace, covering mainstream office and business services such as Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, Stripe and Shopify. Anthropic says Duet proactively alerts users to items that need attention, notifies them or requests review after completing tasks, and asks for user consent before sending messages, making payments or signing documents.

Claude Duet is currently open only to a waitlist of US Pro and Max subscribers; Team and Enterprise plans are not yet supported.

Editor's note: The AI agent race has officially entered a three-way contest: Meta Muse targets consumers, OpenAI Dots serves both enterprises and consumers, and Anthropic Claude Duet focuses on professionals and small businesses. The competitive focus has shifted from "who chats better" to "who gets things done."

2. CPC Central Committee and State Council: Fully Implement the "AI Plus" Initiative

National PolicyAI PlusIndustrial Integration

On October 21, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the Opinions on Promoting Deep Integration of Technological and Industrial Innovation, explicitly proposing to fully implement the "AI Plus" initiative and promote AI's all-round empowerment of all industries.

The Opinions propose transforming and upgrading traditional industries with advanced technology, deepening the implementation of major manufacturing technological upgrades and large-scale equipment renewal projects, accelerating the innovative development of the industrial internet, and promoting deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy. They also stress leveraging the strengths of the new nationwide system to coordinate strategic planning, major tasks and policy measures for technological and industrial innovation.

Policy signal: "AI Plus" has risen from a technology application level to a systemic deployment for industrial integration and real-economy upgrading; AI empowerment will shift from single-point demonstrations to penetration across the entire industrial chain. Compute infrastructure, advanced packaging and humanoid robotics sectors are expected to benefit directly.

3. NVIDIA GTC Berlin: Jensen Huang Declares the AI Factory Era Has Begun

NVIDIAGTC BerlinAI Factory

From October 20 to 22, NVIDIA GTC 2026 Berlin took place. CEO Jensen Huang delivered a roughly two-hour keynote on the 21st, with the core theme that Europe should move from an AI consumer to an AI producer, and AI factories are the next-generation infrastructure.

Jensen Huang announced that NVIDIA will invest about $2 billion in new AI investment in Europe; combined with about $8 billion already committed over the past year, NVIDIA's investment and commitments in Europe approach $10 billion. Specific moves include signing a letter of intent with the German Ministry for Economic Affairs to invest in four startups, building AI factories with Siemens, and upgrading the Isaac robotics platform. Huang also held a conversation with German Chancellor Merz on Germany's industrial AI roadmap.

Huang publicly said that seeing a technologically advanced country like Germany lag far behind in AI, "nothing pains me more than this", and called out: "Don't overthink it, act first."

4. Meta Q3 Earnings: Revenue of $64.6 Billion, Muse Users Past 10 Million

After the US market close on October 21, Meta released its third-quarter earnings, with both revenue and guidance beating Wall Street expectations. The data shows:

  • Q3 revenue reached $64.6 billion, above the expected $63.37 billion and up 26% year over year
  • Q4 revenue guidance of $73-76 billion, a midpoint of $74.5 billion, above the expected $73.73 billion
  • CEO Zuckerberg revealed that in the past month and a half, more than 10 million people in the US and Canada have created a Muse personal agent, with about 25% using it every day

After its official launch in September, Muse quickly rose to the top of the Apple App Store, helping Meta achieve its best monthly stock performance since 2022. Meta began monetizing Muse on October 12, launching subscription plans at $20 and $100 per month. After the earnings release, the company's shares rose about 3% after hours.

5. Walmart Opens AgentGateway, Amazon Intercepts: The AI Shopping War Escalates

WalmartAmazonAI Shopping

On October 22, the global retail industry's "AI sovereignty battle" hit fast-forward. Walmart loudly announced that AgentGateway is officially live, opening interfaces to AI agents such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Meta Muse, allowing AI agents to complete the full process of product search, price comparison and ordering on behalf of users.

At the same time, Amazon launched a defensive measure codenamed "Project Sentinel", intercepting AI agents' large-scale batch calls by triggering 403 errors. Walmart uses the AgentProfile identity authentication system, while Amazon chose to tighten API access permissions.

Industry watch: In 2026, intelligent shopping has entered the era of "permission avatars"—AI agents place orders on behalf of humans, but who has the right to make purchase decisions for consumers? The "AI sovereignty" battle among retailers is essentially a fight for control of the future consumer entry point.

6. Doubao Work Features Updated, the AI Office Agent Track Heats Up

DoubaoAI OfficeAgents

ByteDance's Doubao work features have received a new round of updates, continuing the product's high-frequency iteration pace since launch. This update focuses on AI office scenarios, further strengthening the agent's capabilities in document processing, schedule management and data analysis.

Industry analysis notes that the competitive logic of China's AI office agent track is switching: the industry's focus is shifting from large-model parameters and generation capability to deep integration with real work scenarios. Whoever can embed faster and more accurately into users' daily workflows will gain an edge in the next round of competition.

7. Mistral Releases Voxtral 3: Voice Agent with Cross-Language Interaction

MistralVoxtral 3Voice Agent

French AI company Mistral released the Voxtral 3 voice agent model, supporting cross-language voice interaction and usable for real-world tasks such as booking clinic appointments and replying to text messages. This is an important move by Mistral in the voice agent field, further enriching AI agents' multimodal interaction capabilities.

The release of Voxtral 3 means AI agents are no longer limited to text interfaces, and voice interaction is becoming a standard capability of next-generation AI assistants.
